Infiltrate The Debate: 6pm Sun 27 May 2018 at the @WR_Greens Campaign Office

Hi everyone! Want to see Mike Schreiner participate in the Leaders Debate tonight? Join the Waterloo Region Greens at the Campaign Office for a watching party!

Despite our best efforts, the unelected and unaccountable media consortium has continued with their decision to exclude the Greens from the televised Leaders Debates.

Even though we are silenced, we must stay strong. We will keep pushing to get our Green voices heard, in all the ways we can.

On Sunday, Mike Schreiner will ‘infiltrate the debate’ by hosting a viewing party and doing a live commentary of the televised Leaders Debate in his home riding of Guelph. The event will be livestreamed, so we hope you can all tune in to hear the real solutions Greens want to provide to the province.

Join us at the WR Greens campaign office, perhaps bring a snack to share, and we’ll watch the Facebook live stream.

When: Sunday, May 27, 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Where: WR Greens Campaign Office, 6 Duke Street East, Kitchener Map
Facebook Live: Mike Schreiner: I’ll be doing a live commentary of the (unfair) Leaders Debate.

Elections Ontario: Kitchener–Conestoga

Everything will be faster and easier on Election Day if you are registered.  But even if you are not registered come Election Day, with adequate ID you can still register and vote with the appropriate ID.  They don’t say it here, but if you don’t have a voter registration card, I think you should bring at least two pieces of ID, including photo ID:Who can vote? To be eligible to vote in a provincial election, you must be: • at least 18 years of age on election day; and • a Canadian citizen; and • a resident of Ontario

What identification do I need to vote? Electors who are on the Voters List will receive a Voter Information Card in the mail from Elections Ontario with information about when, where and how to vote. If you receive a Voter Information Card, you’re on the Voters List. Bring your Voter Information Card and one piece of ID that has your name to vote. OR If you do not receive a Voter Information Card, your name may not be on the Voters List. Bring one piece of identification that has your name and residential address to vote. Visit elections.on.ca to check if your name is on the Voters List

Examples of acceptable ID: • Ontario driver’s licence • Ontario photo card • Ontario motor vehicle permit • Statement of government benefits • CNIB ID • Band council identification • Bank statement • Credit card statement • Loan statement or agreement • Utility bill • Cell phone bill • Insurance policy or statement • Hospital record or document • Residential lease • Mortgage agreement or statement • Cheque stub, T4 slip or pay receipt • School admissions letter • Transcript or report card • School tuition or fees statement

What’s Happening #KitCon #ONpoli #ONelxn

Checking out the awesome Mel’s Diner between our first meeting with the Elections Ontario Returning Officer for Kitchener-Conestoga and the Cross Cultures Waterloo Region African-Canadian Debate

The Ontario Election is off at a gallop; there have been so many events packed into the schedule (even before it started) I’ve been so busy taking photographs and recording video there hasn’t been time to look through our multi-media much less post it… until now!

Here’s the first clip from Bob’s appearance at THEMUSEUM Cultural Exchange 6.0

There will be more video to come from this and other events this week.

This Week:

TUESDAY:

Bob Jonkman will be live on the radio on Bollywood Mix, 10-11am Tuesday morning

WEDNESDAY:

On Wednesday he’ll be getting his SHORE Centre briefing to ensure our campaign is well informed on accurate sexual health education and confidential pregnancy options, issues including:

  • Updated sex ed curriculum
  • Safe Access Zones
  • Parental notification laws for minors seeking abortion care
  • Mifegymiso (abortion pill)
  • Abortion access and regulations in Ontario
  • OHIP+ & Pharmacare implications on access to birth control
  • Teen pregnancy

THURSDAY:

Although this isn’t an election event, you are welcome to join Bob on Thursday evening for his regularly scheduled KWVoIP meeting at the Egg Roll King Restaurant, 85 Courtland Avenue East, Kitchener Map. The Kitchener-Waterloo Voice Over Internet Protocol Users Group (KWVoIP) meets regularly on the fourth Thursday of the month. Meetings are scheduled to begin at 7:00pm, but some people arrive at 6:00pm to order dinner before the meeting.

This is a regular informal meetup where tech folk can share information with each other as well as help non-tech people interested in exploring VoIP.  Skype is the VoIP most people are familiar with, but there are plenty of economical free software options.  Bob set up our WRGreens campaign office with a cost effective VoIP system.  If you’re interested in finding out how this stuff works, this is a great resource.  (And the food at Egg Roll King is fabulous!)

Check out Bob’s online Calendar for updates on Ontario Election events he’ll be attending.
